Neutral Density Filter

Neutral Density (ND) filters are essential tools that reduce the amount of light entering a camera lens without altering the color of the image. These gray-tinted filters act like sunglasses for your camera, allowing photographers to use wider apertures or slower shutter speeds than would normally be possible in bright conditions. ND filters come in various strengths, measured in stops of light reduction or optical density values. Common applications include creating motion blur in bright daylight (such as silky water effects), using wide apertures for shallow depth of field in bright conditions, and capturing long exposures of moving clouds. Graduated ND filters have a gradient from dark to clear, useful for balancing bright skies with darker foregrounds in landscape photography.
