Technically, true macro photography achieves at least a 1:1 magnification ratio, meaning the subject is reproduced on the camera sensor at life-size or larger. This specialized field reveals intricate details invisible to the naked eye, from the compound eyes of insects to the delicate textures of flower petals or the crystalline structures of snowflakes. Macro photography typically requires dedicated equipment such as macro lenses, extension tubes, or close-up filters, and often demands techniques like focus stacking to achieve sufficient depth of field.
